Celebrating Nature in the Pacific Northwest

“I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order."                                                                                                                                                                                    John Burrough

This site is a celebration of the natural world in the Pacific Northwest - its lush forests, mountains, oceanside beaches, rivers and deserts. This is a place that brings beauty and solace. Through my photos, I want to share the animals who call the Northwest home, full time or as an important migratory stopover and the native plants that are central to all habitats.

Knowing the name of a plant or animal or even a place brings it a step closer to being a familiar friend. Researching and learning even a little about them brings them to life. My goal with each entry is to share a bit of my research as well as resource links. This site will be a continual work in progress as new animals and plants will be added. All entries are native to the Northwest states of Washington, Oregon as well as northern California.

Thank you for browsing and enjoy!
